The first round of the DMCC/TQA Kennard’s Hire Thumper series saw over 100 entries for the day. There were plenty of spectators, all with a grin enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of dirt bike racing with a drink in one hand, steak sandwich in the other having a chin wag to their mate.
It is incredible to watch the Demo 50’s have a go with helmets as big as their bodies and ruts on the track almost as deep as their bikes. On the other end of the age spectrum the VETS/MASTERS are insane! There’s nothing like watching a bunch of fast and furious old guys still giving it their best.
Daniel McInnes and Coby Willis gave us an unforgettable finish, crossing the finish line so close together it left many still guessing who took first place. Even Coby said he wasn’t sure once the race was over. This perhaps, is the most deserving congratulations going to Daniel McInnes for the victory. Well done and CONGRATULATIONS Daniel.
For the next round of exciting races, be at the Hidden Valley overflow carpark, 11th March 2012. Races start at 9:00am.

TQA Sign On and Fun Day
The Territory Quad Association is holding it's Sign On and Fun Day this Sunday 26 February commencing at 9.00am. All new and existing members are encouraged to come down with their quads and full riding gear to join the club for the 2012 racing season. There will be a few fun activities for juniors and seniors, but no racing. A junior coaching clinic will also be conducted on the day, so all juniors should make sure they are there by 9.00am sharp. A sausage sizzle and drinks will be available on the day. Download and fill in your membership forms and MA licence forms from TQA's website (www.tqa.org.au) and bring them with you, it will save time on the day.

Kennards Headlight Race
The 2012 drag racing season gets underway this Saturday at the Alice Springs Inland Dragway, with the first race in the Kennards Hire Headlight Series. After having a break over Summer, it’s time to get back out on the track and do some skids!!!
This racing series provides the opportunity for anyone to come out to the track and have a go at drag racing in a safe and legal environment. Come on out and smoke those tyres and go as fast as you like, and get the time slip to prove it. Racers will need to pay a $40 entry fee, and will need to wear long pants, long pants, enclosed shoes and a helmet. There are cash prizes to be won and all new racers will be given assistance if required.
Competitor gates and scrutineering will be open at 4pm, qualifying will start at 5pm and racing will be from 7:30pm. Spectator entry is $15 for adults, $5 12-16yr and under 12 free (pit pass included for all entry fees).
As well as the four Kennards Hire Headlight races, there will be five points rounds, including the ‘Big Al’ Stainer memorial, Harley Challenge, Desert ¼ mile Titles and the ¼ Mile smiles fundraiser for Make-A-Wish® Australia.
There will be new cars making their debut throughout the season from junior dragsters to supercharged outlaws, so come out to the track, wander around the pits and have a chat to the racers.
